mtvU and The Jed Foundation Launch National Campaign around College Student Mental Health
Did you know that nearly half of all college students reported feeling so depressed that they couldn’t function? Or, that suicide is the second leading cause of death among college students? Both are true. So why is it still so hard for us to talk about “mental health?”
Too many are struggling emotionally to keep it hidden. The more everyone knows the facts, the easier it will be to deal with the problem and get help, free of shame or stigma.
The Jed Foundation and mtvU have launched the HalfofUs campaign to raise awareness about the prevalence of mental health issues on campus and connect students to the appropriate resources to get help. The campaign is supported by a generous charitable contribution to The Jed Foundation from AstraZeneca.
In April 2007, the campaign entered a new phase with video interviews of students and artistis available online and featured in a groundbreaking on-air series.
